I agree with jameela. like I understand the criticism of the “what about the young girls” argument w female celebs BUT I think that line of argumentation is valid here with anorexia. I think women (like britney) shouldn’t have been held to that standard bc that was more about criticism regarding sexual promiscuity, NOT about having a disease that kills thousands of young girls being normalized and pushed in our faces

The public will not be gaslit from a corrupt industry PR system. Her body looks shocking. Both her decisions and her team’s backing is heinous. I’m glad she is taking a break and getting well. I think blaming pop stars for the wellbeing of young girls shouldn’t be discounted in totality as teenage girls do make up the majority of ED suffers.

I think she’s resentful. She sings a lot about being able to do whatever she wants because the public keeps her famous regardless. It pisses her off that they can influence her career negatively as well.

I don’t think it’s a good statement. She blatantly needs help and they don’t give any indication that she’s going to get it. I get why they might not want to tell us even if she is seeking treatment but the statement they gave makes it sound like they’re all in denial.

Sometimes you DO have to be a “won’t someone think of the children” about women celebrities and thier actions. And we do quite rightly speak on male public figures actions and how impressionable young men/boys can be influenced by them. So I really can’t fall for the “it’s only women who are blamed” narrative. We are seeing a lot more pro Anna content on social media and now a list celebs with a history of ED are doing body checks in music videos and we have to pretend it’s not happening?
