Make sure you always have a bank account and funds that family doesn’t know about have all your documents. I’ve known girls to get visas come to UK or another western country n stay to study or work and never go home again . I’ll never be able to go to my dad’s home country I was lucky to get out the last time and learnt now they’ve done some crazy things it’s unsafe . What people don’t realy see is the grieving the life you could’ve had the family you wanted to have but realising they don’t exist when people use culture as a excuse to harm you and then religion too all it does is make you disconnected to everything .i helped a girl leave her family and her brothers made her go back it’s a shame I did everything to try to help she wanted out but in the end I guess the want wasn’t enough she’s lucky she wasn’t unalived . Many years no contact with my Muslim side and in last few years had to ask for medical history spoke to my half brother and realise how toxic , misogynistic and ignorant he was the way he’d speak about women it’s shocking but I guess so many men in Middle East are taught they’re better from a young age . Choosing me and choosing someone I loved to marry not having to marry my cousin who I hated is a massive win . I hope all girls and guys in this situation can get out safely.
