Cinema worker here. It’s called a DCP, Digital Cinema Package, and it’s sent as a huge digital file. At our cinema, when the movie is releasing and we’re allowed to show it, we’re sent like a ‘password’ to sort of unlock the movie. The file is encrypted and locked with the password, so we can already put it in the projector program but we can only show it when it really releases

i think they do send through email or something like that because that was the way how the avatar movie was leaked because the people from that movie accidentally sent it to the wrong person

it depends: a lot of movies are still shown in film in a lot of cinemas. They get the film shipped after being duplicated. If digital, they use an encrypted hard disk that can decrypted with a password on the release date
