@maxlewistv: 7 IU frat boys have been charged with hazing pledges so badly they had to be hospitalized. All of them were part of the "New Member Committee" and are charged with two counts of hazing resulting in serious bodily injury: -Noah Kucera, 19, of San Clemente, CA -Arjunkumar Patel, 19, of Westfield, IN -Casey Clarke, 19, of Hagaman, NY -Ryan Donohue, 19, of Eden Prairie, MN -Logan Conforti, 19, of Elgin, IL -Kaptur Nowaczyk, 19, of Crown Point, IN -Joseph Moon, 20, of Elkhart, IN According to charging documents, dozens of pledges were summoned to the Phi Kappa Psi house in October of last year for a "lineup." The pledges were then forced to perform exercises like planks, pushups, leg lifts and brother squats to the point of exhaustion and then were forced to take ice baths while reciting the fraternity creed. Two of the pledges were hospitalized shortly after with what's called Rhabdomyolysis which is when skeletal muscle tissue is damaged and breaks down, releasing muscle proteins and enzymes, including creatine kinase (CK) and myoglobin, into the bloodstream. One of the pledges was in critical condition at one point. Police say the frat's president Arjunkumar Patel texted one of the pledges while he was in the hospital and encouraged him to lie to police about how he came injured. #news #indianauniversity #hazing #frat #iu
