I loved original Harley Quinn so much. She was a mess, she wasn’t smart, she didn’t have to be a symbol of female empowerment, she was just a broken women. Why can’t female characters just be flawed and raw and human? Thats literally what I loved about her, she was just allowed to be a mess. 😭

In all honesty her writing would be better if she kept going back to him. A more tragic and realistic tale abt the cycle of abuse. The idea that joker sees her as more of an experiment: how far can I push a person into insanity and still have them crawl back for more.

Reading the comics my heart consistently breaks for her, she's a brilliant woman and even after she moved on, her mind is still broken and distorted by all the abuse, even when she gets to be who she is, and loved by Ivy, it still ruins her, but she's healing and she always tries again to be better.

The way she realised he's the worst is when he comes back from having his face cut off from dollmaker and she immediately gets abused by him and trapped in a dungeon with skeletons of "previous" harley quinns

I get attacked all the time for this buuut. I really do prefer Harley’s ‘toxic love’ story line to the one she has now. Back forth with ivy and anti hero? Nah give me back complex VILLAIN Harley and a side of falling in and out with joker. NOW it can be in the off she goes to ivy. But I really think her character shines when she’s out of her mind but like. Grounded tipsy you won’ eloquent thoughts here but! they haven’t been doing that with her lately.
