I literally told them today I have taken on more than I agreed to when I came back and this is not going to continue at current rate. Then told them you are paying me this amount less than median wage for my position

What advice would you give if someone on a team was fired for poor performance and is not being replaced. Another team member is absorbing their work in bad shape and is expected to get it up to par and take on their responsibilities. No reviews have been done so far for the year. A meeting was had a the supervisor said that a request for a raise was viewed as opportunistic. The employee sees it as taking on responsibility and compensation for work well done and exceeding expectations along with other duties such as training others. Thoughts?
