i almost cheered when i heard she’s stepping away from the public eye. that’s exactly what she needs and i’ve been thinking it for a while. it feels weird to see people so upset about it and being like “well done guys are you happy?” like honestly yes. i’m not happy with the circumstances that led to it but im happy she’s stepping away regardless, i don’t care that the era will be over quicker that’s not the priority right now

I had ED for many years. The more people said I look sick, too skinny, and paid attention to me for my thinness, no matter how negative, the skinnier I wanted to get. All this attention is not helping her disorder.

I think the divide are people who were deeply effected by the toxic culture of the early 2000s and people who don’t understand and a lot of this is actually public trauma response which is why a lot of people who experienced that in culture are being reactive cause a lot might be parents or at least old enough to realize how messed up it is and with the rise of skinny culture people are reacting very strongly this time around.

If you’re old enough and were on tumblr back in the day you’re aware that this ain’t new behaviour for her, I’ve never even been a fan of her but I remember her tumblr days. It seems she’s been dealing with body image issues for over a decade and unfortunately this looks like a breaking point. I hope she gets help and gets away from anyone who’s enabling this pov for her

I just wish we'd talk more about how triggering she is to adult people too, not just young girls. Truly having an ed at this time in society is hell and she's being plastered everywhere we look. I wish people would stop using her photos everywhere because if part of the conversation is the damage she has on people who are struggling like her, displaying her most triggering photos isn't thinking of them in the slightest. And this isn't a slight at you, it's everyone who talks about her rn. There's hundreds of photos of her to pick from I wish we'd stop using those ones.

As an eating disorder therapist with my own lived experience, i agree that taking a step back and surrounding herself with genuinely supportive people can be so important. I also hate that it might reinforce the notion that you have to hide yourself if you’re struggling or not “palatable” in some way.
