be sure to go over it with a hot water and vinegar rinse ! you gotta rinse the soap out or it’ll attract more dirt and get dirty faster and the vinegar will get rid of smells and soften the carpet

You should get a carpet scraper. It will get out much more animal hair before you clean.

Vacuum first next time. I would get a professional it’s just as much as the carpet cleaner you bought and their machines are ten times more powerful if the carpet is that old.
