@rileejsmith: Why I think you should book a walking food tour on the first day of your next trip! 🥙🚶♀️It’s not only a great way to get familiar with the local neighborhood and dishes… but it can also help make the rest of your trip a huge success! My favorite tour company is Secret Food Tours - i have a Iink in my BlO! #traveltip #internationaltravel #travelhack #traveltips #foodtour | international travel tip
Agree! I’ve also had really good luck booking Airbnb experiences for things like food tours or walking tours.

I don’t necessarily do it on day 1, but I do one on every trip.

I do a bike tour the first day to get the lay of the land and cover more territory. I usually do a food tour for dinner time 1st or 2nd day.

Another option is a walking photography tour- especially for solo travelers. This way you get the same familiarity of the area, but also pictures that aren’t just selfies. Best thing I’ve ever done.

Agree 💯. I’ve done walking food tours in Barcelona and Lisbon, both done on the first couple of days in those cities. Both were fantastic experiences

I did a Secret Food Tour on my first full day in Brussels and I loved it. It actually helped with seeing the Christmas market (our guide took us to a bunch of the locations), which was the main thing that I was there to do.

We also enjoy a local cooking class too! In Spain they took us on a short tour and the central market and they were learned to make some great food!

Doesn’t even have to be if you’re out of the country — my friends and I did a guided walking food tour in Old Scottsdale when we were there a few years ago. We were so full by the end we were rolling more than walking, but it was soooo worth it … the food was fantastic and our guide shared so much interesting history.

We do a food tour in every city we visit on the first or second day. I always recommend this to others also. Such a great way to get to know the city. One additional benefit that you didn’t mention is that the food is often closely tied to the history of the city so you also get a little bit of a historical tour while you’re doing the food tour.
