It’s a sign you’re stuck in survival mode and need a hard reset!🤎 Constant chaos, a packed schedule, and a never-ending push for productivity were my “normal.” I actually used to say, “I just work better when I have no free time in my schedule!” (I cringe now to think about it). So, whenever I tried to slow down, my body interpreted rest as unfamiliar and unsafe. I’d feel anxious, restless, and even guilty until I could find some task to occupy myself with again. Eventually, I learned this wasn’t just “how I worked.” It was a nervous system conditioned to live in overdrive. I had to retrain my body and inner voice to learn that rest is safe and beneficial. No, your life won’t fall apart if you take one moment for yourself. What helped me reset👇🏽 📝Name the feeling: When the restlessness shows up, notice it. Name it and sit with it. Instead of cutting rest short, affirm yourself, “Rest is good for me.” The feelings will eventually pass! 🤏🏽Start small: Instead of jumping into a week-long retreat, start with 5 minutes of rest, then an hour, until eventually you’ve built a regular routine of rest in your week. 🕰️Reframing rest as productive: Remind yourself that rest actually is productive. If you work yourself to the point of burnout, you’ll have nothing left to give. Burnout steals more time than rest ever will. So, creating a regular habit of rest is actually essential to a productive life! 🧶Hobbies as rest: Pair rest with a hobby that you’re excited to dive into! It’s a way to add some slowness into your life without requiring complete idleness. Rest can be fun and creative too! 🫂Self-compassion: Give yourself grace. Don’t add to the pile of negative self-talk by shaming yourself for struggling to rest. Treat the process as a practice, not a failure or shortcoming. It may take years to take ourselves out of survival mode and find peace in rest, but we should celebrate ourselves for trying! If this resonates, know that you’re not broken or unfixable. You may just need to slowly and patiently remind your body that rest is good for you🫶🏽 What’s one tiny rest habit you’ll try this week?🤎 #cozytok #SelfCare #cozyhobbies
