user73748324744 :
as a medical student going in to dermatology: it is down to making sure your blood panels(vitamin d, ferritin, iron, etc.), low stress, low androgens, good health overall, muscle mass, high protein diet, low DHT (spironolactone, dutasteride or finasteride, minoxidil), and just keeping hair healthy by using the right products that keep the shafts “hydrated” (silicone, oils, fatty alcohols, etc.) limiting heat chemical and mechanical damage (loose braids, silk bonnets, no tight wigs hats scarves etc, no tight hairstyles, no heat, no dyeing perms bleaching or chemical processing), and mostly genetics. The only things that are proven by science to work are minoxidil, ketoconozole (slightly), DHT blockers like dutasteride or finasteride, possibly some topical peptides, possibly LLT, possibly Aminexil for root anchoring, and that’s about all I can think of, the rest is BS or has no data to prove it. Oils do not grow your hair unless it’s working to limit breakage and moisturize a scalp that’s out of whack. There is no scientific mechanism beyond that to prove they help; and before you start I’m literally brown so yes it’s part of my culture and I really do not think they do much. Majority is hormonal and genetic.
