“What radicalized you?” Um, my college professor took us on a “field trip” to Angola in the late 1990s. Can confirm that shit did NOT, in fact, stop. That trip still haunts me almost 30 years later. 💔

I've been to this prison on a school field trip in NURSING SCHOOL! Let that sink in. They have rodeos there every year too. I will never get the sight of the men working in the fields and the officers on horseback holding shotguns! It's like I went back in time. A very disturbing sight.

incarceration and weed laws are heavily tied too. they initially made it illegal but if you bought "tickets" from the government, you could legally have it but in order to get a "ticket" you had to have it on hand to show you had it but when you'd go to buy the "ticket", you'd get arrested for possession. they never even printed the stupid tickets.

What helped me wake up? Watching the documentary called “13th”. After that I had an insatiable hunger to learn what other lies I had been told. It still infuriates me.
