@a_mothers_cry: A Hawaii jury has convicted 28-year-old former Schofield soldier Kendall Ramsey of first-degree murder in the 2020 stabbing deaths of his girlfriend, 23-year-old Kayla Holder, and their 6-month-old son, Kainoa Ramsey. The victims were found dead inside their apartment in Ewa Beach following the killings. Prosecutors described the case as an extraordinarily brutal act of domestic violence that resulted in the deaths of two members of the same family. According to prosecutors, Holder suffered 38 stab wounds, while the infant suffered 17. Investigators also found a disturbing message written in blood inside the apartment following the killings. Ramsey was arrested after the killings and later faced trial for the deaths. During the proceedings, his defense argued that he had been experiencing severe emotional and mental-health difficulties and that childhood trauma, depression and suicidal thoughts contributed to what they described as a psychological crisis. The defense sought to have the jury consider a lesser offense based on extreme emotional disturbance. Prosecutors, however, argued that the evidence supported first-degree murder. The jury ultimately rejected that defense and found Ramsey guilty of first-degree murder. Ramsey was also convicted of first-degree attempted assault stemming from a separate incident that prosecutors said occurred hours after the killings. Authorities said Ramsey drove on the wrong side of Kunia Road toward an oncoming vehicle, resulting in a collision. Ramsey remains in custody at the Oahu Community Correctional Center without bail. He is scheduled to be sentenced on November 18th, 2026, and faces a possible sentence of life imprisonment without the possibility of parole. Honolulu Prosecutor Steve Alm said the verdict cannot undo the loss suffered by the victims’ family but expressed hope that it provides some measure of justice for Holder and her infant son.
