can someone explain why or how the "weirdness" in quantum mechanics would mean that we're living in the matrix? like why doesn't the weirdness mean that the universe is more complex than we thought, or that the laws need to be rewritten, or something else? it seems like one doesn't follow the other. can anyone explain?

doesn't have to be high entropy. you can break the waveform with precision and timing. in fact, it's the only way I know how. you need to create a quantum branch and immediately measure it before universes can propagate from it
