Many of the restaurants around me have no problem with you bringing in a cake. Sometimes they charge a fee to cut the cake and put it on plates, but that’s reasonable since their equipment is getting dirty.

If the place does not offer birthday cakes and the employee said it was ok then let them have the cake. They already spent their money there. We have done this many times and restaurants have never had any issues. This is crazy to me.
