I feel sorry for the Mon people; they were absorbed into Thai culture and made Thai. There is not even a single town, let alone a state, allocated for the Mons in Thailand.

the Mon wasn't the oldest. Khmer are still older then the Mon. Khmer Empire history started in 8th century are not the complete history. that time is when Khmer became strong and started building temples. But Khmer history go farther then 8th century. It go pass the 1st century When the Chinese call Khmer a Funan Kindom. The Mon even younger then the Khmer Chunla Kindom (2nd generation of the Funan).
