Looks aren't the sole determining factor, but they're not a non-factor either. There's a reason headshots exist. There have also been really great actors who have been miscast, so I don't think people should love a casting just because an actor is good. Obviously they'll be casting to their specific vision, but let's not act like studios are infallible and will only make good choices. If he gets the role I hope he does a good job.

i engage with the source material daily… i have no beef with Coopsr and he’s a great actor but Scott is literally SUPPOSED to be a pretty boy, this is a very well established factor of Cyclops… He is a PLAYER… his nickname is Slim

great actor but he looks nothing like scott. even if he lost weight he still wouldn’t look like him, doesn’t have a leading man presence and is 5’6 and balding at 23. he gets too much hate but this casting literally makes 0 sense

How are we stupid? Fox spent 20 years sidelining Cyclops. If the majority of fans aren’t feeling the look, how are we supposed to be immersed? We haven’t seen Cooper embody Cyclops’ presence, mannerisms, or leadership on/off screen. On top of that, we’re being asked to gamble on a physical transformation. Could great acting make up for it? Absolutely. But fans haven’t seen that yet. Holding Marvel to a high standard and putting pressure on this casting is completely reasonable. If Cooper really is Cyclops, then prove us wrong and give us the definitive version of the character. We’d gladly eat our words if that means Cyclops take back his throne
