My grandma once stopped by a persimmon tree when I was about 11 and told me to get out of the car and see if they were ripe. I'd never had one so I didn't know if I would be able to tell but I trusted her so I got out and took a bite of one. My mouth turned inside out it was so sour and I was spitting it out and making all kinds of sounds and she just says "nope, get back in." I had never felt so betrayed 🤣😭
