Did I ever tell you the time someone filed a complaint against me? This was about ten years ago now. It was one quiet weekend evening. I asked a friend to film a set of my workout for me to post on social media. Although the gym was very quiet, I deliberately waited until nobody else was in the shot at all, and I even told my friend where to hold the camera to make sure it stayed that way. But mid set, someone moved into a position where you could just about see them in the reflection of the mirror. NOT directly in the shot, but in the reflection of a mirror on the wall so they were in the bottom corner of my video. I didn’t notice it at the time. A couple of days later I was called into the general managers office. The member had filed a complaint against me, because they didn’t consent to being in my video. I found them, apologised, and deleted the video, obviously. This was a long time ago, when filming in the gym wasn’t a common occurrence. Nowadays, it seems like you have to dodge your way through a minefield of tripods. So many people are often filming at various angles to the point that walking through the gym can feel like those bank robbery laser dodging scenes in Mission Impossible. I *proactively* put myself on social media, and I still absolutely detest being in the background of someone’s video without realising it. My point is, I am very happy for you to film, if you want. But, I think it is courteous that if someone is filming in your general vicinity, they try to make sure you aren’t in the shot, or give you a heads up that they are filming. Fair enough? P.S. My best-selling book, ‘Everything Fat Loss’ is currently on sale as a brand-new audiobook, plus digital/print versions from Barnes and Noble, Apple, Kobo, Google, and Amazon with an extra 10% off in the USA and an extra 37% off in Canada. Feel free to grab it before the price goes up (Iink in profile). #gym #GymTok #filming #film #camer #Vlog #vlogger #photographer #videographer #workout #exercise #fit #FitTok #weightloss #fatloss #weightlosstips #fatlosstips #gympositivity #caloriedeficit #calories #fitnessmodel #personaltrainer #foryou #fyp #fypシ
