Yo creo que su filosofía de vida es el estoicismo, porque aplica la dicotomía del control (cosa que nadie más hace en la obra). No pierde el tiempo dudando o lamentándose por cosas que escapan de sus manos, como la regeneración de Akaza o la mala suerte de pelear contra él completamente solo —sabiendo que hasta en el final de la obra, salvo el primer usuario de la respiración solar, nadie puede ganarle a una Luna Superior en un 1v1—. Como él no puede controlar lo fuerte que es Akaza, no gasta energía mental en eso, se enfoca al 100% en lo que sí depende de él, salvar a los demás. Cuando Enmu usa su técnica para manipular a todos mostrándoles sus anhelos o vidas ideales, el "sueño" de Rengoku es literalmente su triste realidad. Muestra el desprecio de su padre, la ausencia de su madre y el tener que criar a Senjuro. No se deja manipular porque él ya aceptó su vida tal cual, sin guardar resentimientos. Ahí es donde demuestra el Amor Fati: aceptar sus circunstancias y su destino sin victimizarse. Si lo comparamos con otros cazadores, sin afán de desmerecerlos, Mitsuri entró en pánico y lloró en combate, Tokito se resignó a morir atrapado en la burbuja de Gyokko, y Tomioka cargaba un complejo de culpa que casi le quita las ganas de vivir. Todos ellos pasan por un quiebre mental y tienen que superarlo en los capítulos para poder avanzar. Rengoku no, él ya superó esas batallas internas antes de subir al tren. Por eso contra Akaza no tiene un monólogo de pánico pensando "ya perdí", directamente afirma su filosofía de vida diciendo: "Sin importar lo que pase no dejaré que nadie muera. Este es mi ataque definitivo".
