I saw a video just today that broke my brain. It was brand new and posted by a pretty big affiliate and it was one of those “I’m returning these pants not because they’re great but because they’re on sale” videos. I’m so tired of trying to create original honest content and not getting anything from it.

The biggest issue I see is that there seems to be a major disconnect between what TikTok and brands SAY they want…good quality content, honest reviews, etc. and what content ACTUALLY gets all of the ad spend. I started tracking ads when I see them and something like 85% of ads I’ve seen are still the BOF selling the sale crap they say they don’t want. Make it make sense…

I keep seeing skincare videos of people saying I'm so glad I got this product before I got tox, filler, etc. When the person clearly has had work done. They show their before picture of hollow under eyes and deep wrinkles but their current face has no wrinkles filled in under eyes. No product is going to give you that drastic of a transformation. It's ok to have work done but be honest about it..... I'm new on TT shop and still trying to figure out how to get sales and promote better products that actually work. I try not to do too many free samples anymore because they don't give you enough time to fully try out the product.

I want people to see authenticity, not me copying what ever video is “printing”. its costing me sells, but, I can post without feeling like I’ve lied to viewers

I THINK this bodes well for me. Even through this rough period, I have been hanging on. I agree with you that it’s about trust. I don’t know if TT is on board yet. I still see a majority BOF (it’s 50% off, it’s free, Triple Discount) content in Ads. I switched 6 months ago about to TOF/MOF and doing more tutorials and things. But becasue my sales declined, brands don’t want to give me access to tools anymore to keep building my brand. Keep doing lives for them, or getting product to do videos for them. TT won’t give me access to events anymore because I am not platinum. So, though I agree with you and I am just going to continue to stick to trust content, education, entertainment, Storytime, I have been “punished” in a way.

Here is the thing I always have stayed authentic and honest in my content. I’ve never been afraid to say if I didn’t like something I say it and I will also tell the brand what my thoughts were too if I’ve had an issue with something. I suck at hooks and all the extra things have posted tutorials my journey has been very slow going as far as growth, but always was gold even as a very, very small creator however, since mid April, I’ve just crashed and it continues to drop each month even further. I barely made silver this month as a couple dollars. GMV Max very seldom has ever picked up my videos I remember one video I had 15 views and sold five items on it. I’ve been checked to see if anything got canceled. Nothing dead video was still never picked up. 😅 Also I’ve just been struggling lately to even wanna post last month really just was gonna defeated me. I have had nothing so far this month. So much time energy effort just completely wasted, you know. Also, my algorithm has just completely changed in the last week. It’s 0/100. Anyone else.

THIS!! You nailed it. We need to get back to the days of creators sharing products they genuinely love and actually use while building real relationships with their audience. I’m so tired of all the fake reviews, AI-generated content, and constant pushing of products just for a sale. It’s honestly so disheartening. I’m completely burnt out from TikTok Shop because it doesn’t feel authentic anymore.
