to all the people arguing that maybe a jellyfish can we feel pain and we just don't know how. is wrong. it is not biologically possible for them to feel any pain and we do know that. yes, we used perform surgery on babies thinking they felt no pain, but that was a long time ago before we had better understandings of biology. a jellyfish is not in the slightest bit sentient. think of it like a plant, it's alive, but in a different way than being sentient and feeling pain

Food for thought: saying that they don't feel pain based on the absence of a nervous system or brain that resembles what today's science is familiar with, is like saying that non-vocal animals cannot communicate because they don't have the same type of vocal physiology that we do. And we know this is wrong. We know that fireflies communicate using bioluminescence, cameleons and cuttlefish communicate using color changes of their skin. So if animals without vocal physiology can experience communication, how can we say for certain that animals without a nervous system can't experience pain?
