Did you know there are the characteristics of a normal bite ? 1. An ideal bite, also known as a "perfect bite" or "normal bite," is when your top and bottom teeth align perfectly when you close your mouth. 2. In a perfect world, your top teeth should slightly overlap your bottom teeth, which allows for efficient chewing and speaking. 3. Your top and bottom teeth should meet evenly. No one tooth should hit before the others. 4. The points of your molars should fit the grooves of the opposite molar. This is called "cuspid to fossa" relationship. 5. Your front teeth should be straight, not crowded or spaced apart, and the midlines of your upper and lower teeth should align with the middle of your face. 6. When you look at your teeth from the side, the upper front teeth should sit in front of your lower teeth (this is called overjet) and your upper teeth should come down just over the lower ones (this is called overbite). 7. Lastly, your jaw should be comfortable and not cause any pain or discomfort when chewing or speaking. Remember, everyone's bite is unique and what's most important is that your bite is functional and comfortable for you. If you have any concerns about your bite, it's best to speak with tour your orthodontist. They are the bite experts after all!
