@timtalksmoneysg: Here's how much your household needs to earn monthly to be in the top 10% of employment income earners in Singapore, according to the Singapore Department of Statistics. 👇 The SingStat data covers combined household employment income, and not just your personal salary. So, add up everyone living under your roof who's working and earning an income. At the median, so that's the 50th percentile, households earn $10,591 a month. That means at this level, 50% of households earn more than this amount, and 50% earn less. For context, using the median is a better measure of income than using the average as that can be distorted by extreme high or low outliers. What about the 70th percentile? Households here earn $16,075 a month. At the 80th percentile, households earn $20,312 a month. And to be in the top 10%, so the 90th percentile, households need to earn $27,672 a month. If the top decile household earnings is 27.6k, how does this tie up with the recent news article that 1 in 7 households in Singapore earn 30k? Seems like some discrepancy there.

Is income and earned income different? Income might be rental income+stock dividends+Salary and even government subsidy where else earned income is from employment.

Many people staying with family do not understand the meaning of ‘household’. They prefer to put themselves in the category of one person household then complain salary not 10k while everyday relaxing🤣
