Some children behave differently at school. Let the school help you because they spend more time with your child. Schools need financial support to support your child. If you don't work with the school to support your child especially at an early stage challenging behavior will get worse at an older age.

Nadhra Natasha Issa :
My son teachers suggested he needs extra help that the teachers helped me to get appointments to paediatrician and was diagnosed with autism and ADHD, this was in primary , in nursery I was like you saying no that’s not my son , turns out he needed the help and after the help I have seen a different son at home, he is the best in school now and the help that I was doubting about turns out to be the most helpful thing he needed. So parents teachers more and they spend more times with these kids and I don’t think teachers diagnose it’s the doctors after several activities which teachers have noted

J J Autism Foundation :
The danger in your message is most African parents stigmatise Autism, it takes 2-5 years to diagnose children. A teacher cannot pay attention to 1 distractive child when they have 24-32 kids. I have seen parents refuse to almost 3 assessments and when they realise it, its too late to get that support. Your message is misleading and that's not to say some kids need more engaging, that requires funding too. Teachers are not allowed to give a diagnosis by law. There different professionals involved before coming to that conclusion

i think there is a very thin line here. Especially at the early ages the schools picks up certain things more than us parents, and its not reflective of bad parenting. teachers are expose to more sample sizes than parents. probably the key words here are 'be careful'..i think a kids education is the responsibility of parents and schools are there to help. so we should engage and educate ourselves. no child is born with a manual...its hard work being a parent

One thing is certain every parent know when their child has special needs no matter how insignificant the behaviour is,before a parents gets a diagnoses if u r being honest,u have always known ur child was different

Also, people need to keep in mind that schools get funding for children that need extra educational support. Majority of the time, the support is substandard, while the schools are racking in the money.

I was told my child need support, disagree with them , my child does his home work with me yet they claimed he need support. Them teachers dont engaged much with black kids in school. they have patients with autistic white child than non autistic black child

A 3-year old black girl was suggest for SEN and parents were given a form to sign. The parents asked what was the concern, the nursery couldn't explain. They hust withdrew the form

Many parents are in denial of their children's challenging behavior and this limits the support they can get from teachers at school. Parents listen and work with teachers to support your child.
