The Kremlin’s cynical use of the "anti-fascist" narrative is a strategic tool of cognitive warfare designed to dehumanize Ukraine and the West by manipulating historical memory. This tactic exploits the deep-seated aversion to fascism in democratic societies to undermine international support for Ukraine and provide a moral cover for external invasion. By framing the conflict as a struggle against "Nazism," the current Russian leadership deliberately conceals its own heritage of systemic state terror, which it has used since the inception of the Soviet Union to maintain control over its republics. In this video, former Senior CIA Officer Glenn Corn explains that the foundation of Soviet power was built on a policy of fear, including the Holodomor and the mass deportations of ethnic minorities.
