In Thor ragnarock he actually says to Loki when he is disguised as Odin “ you know that nothing will stop mjolnir as it returns to my hand” so I’m gonna guess it just goes straight through things

I think it’s because that people could get hurt if it flies through a wall so it changes direction

Depends on what it is and how hard he’s summoning it. Thor seems to have control over where it flies e.g Thor ragnarok when fighting against surturs minions it goes in a circle to hit them. Another example (although this is with stormbreaker not mjolnir) when Thor arrives in wakanda
