@rabbi.noah18: Can someone convert for the sake of marriage? It's a big, nuanced question, but here's a small piece of the answer. In Jewish law there's the ideal, and there's after the fact. Ideally, Jews marry Jews. Not because there's anything wrong with the rest of the world, but because we're a small people with a strong value system to protect. But it doesn’t always happen this way. Someone meets someone. Someone is already married civilly. Should the non Jewish spouse convert? Most poskim today say yes, it is better to become a Jewish family than to stay intermarried. But the conversion itself has to come from a sincere desire to serve Hashem and join the Jewish people. It can't be for marriage alone. We saw this with Ruth, one of the greatest converts in Jewish history. Sometimes the person you meet is God's invitation to find your soul. You may even become the reason your Jewish partner grows closer to God, because of your own sincerity and commitment. So no, it's not ideal to convert only for marriage. But there is hashgacha pratit, divine providence, that may have brought two souls together to bring both of you closer to Hashem and build generations of committed Jewish souls. Find a local rabbi who can walk this with you. You are not alone. #Judaism #Torah #JewishConvert #JewishConversion #Intermarriage

This is such an important topic. It’s important for so many reasons. People don’t think about how interfaith marriages affect generations to come. 🙏

It is strange because in the diaspora there are cases of marriage between Jews and non-Jews, and in Jewish history, some of the greatest figures were not originally Jewish, or in reality, like Ruth the Moabite.Esther's marriage to Nebuchadnezzar is what saved the Jews. Marriage to non-Jews exists and has been a source of salvation for some, just as it has been a reason for many to leave and distance themselves from the Jews because they married non-Jews. However, most of the people who left Egypt were married to non-Jews.Repeat the words logically and realistically, not as rules you want to establish. This is just my opinion. I fully respect the will of others, and good luck to everyone.

After I converted and had a Jewish wedding, I want to start learning a little Hebrew. What would you recommend? I work with a lot of clients who are from Israel for my real estate business.

I met my husband, we fell in love and I had an Orthodox conversion. Years later I found out that my great-grandfather was Jewish. I view it as coming home. My husband is the child of Holocaust survivors (I am 60) and they stopped practicing and yes, I brought him back to synagogue . He had a strong Jewish cultural identity but not a religious one and he learned a lot about Judaism while I was converting.
