One day, this little cub will be strong enough to walk through the world without needing to remain so close to his mother. But not yet. For now, there is warmth, protection and the quiet certainty of having someone beside you. That was the feeling I wanted to preserve in this portrait. Not only a lioness and her cub resting together among the grass and rocks, but one of those fleeting moments that feels ordinary while it is happening and precious once it has passed. Throughout the process, I slowly built their forms, the softness of the cub, the weight and strength of the lioness, and all the subtle details connecting them to their surroundings. Pero ese día aún no ha llegado. Por ahora, tiene su calor, su protección y la tranquilidad de saber que ella está a su lado. Eso era lo que quería capturar en este retrato. No solo una leona y su cachorro descansando juntos entre la hierba y las rocas, sino uno de esos instantes que parecen cotidianos mientras los vivimos y que, cuando han pasado, comprendemos lo valiosos que eran. Durante el proceso fui dando forma poco a poco a los dos, buscando la suavidad del cachorro, el peso y la fuerza de la leona y todos esos pequeños detalles que hacen que ambos formen parte del entorno. Más adelante, este retrato se convirtió en un curso en profundidad dentro de mi Academia, pero antes de ser una lección, era simplemente una historia sobre el vínculo entre una madre y su pequeño, sobre crecer y sobre un amor que permanece incluso cuando llega el momento de alejarse. 🤎 - @patricia.otero
