@wh0angie: Eight months ago, my life changed forever. On December 7, I was a passenger in a devastating car accident that nearly took my life. When the airbags deployed, they struck my chin with such force that my jaw fractured and was pushed into my skull, causing a traumatic brain injury that required emergency surgery. In a matter of seconds, everything I had planned for my future felt uncertain. The weeks that followed were some of the hardest of my life. My jaw was wired shut, I struggled with the effects of my brain injury, and I wondered if I would ever feel like myself again. I questioned whether I would be able to continue school or if my dream of becoming a nurse had been taken away from me. There were days filled with fear, frustration, and tears. I remember praying to Jesus, asking why I had survived and what purpose He still had for my life. As time passed, I realized healing isn't just physical. Recovering from a traumatic brain injury challenged me mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Some days were filled with hope, while others reminded me how much healing was still ahead. My doctors warned me about possible seizures, permanent hearing loss, limited jaw movement, and cognitive difficulties. Those words were terrifying, but I refused to let fear define my future. Today, I look back with nothing but gratitude. I recovered beyond what my doctors expected and every milestone has reminded me that healing is possible. More than anything, this experience changed my heart. It taught me to appreciate every ordinary day, to lean on my faith when life feels impossible, and to never take a single moment for granted. As I begin nursing school, I carry this experience with me. I know what it feels like to be the patient lying in a hospital bed, scared of what tomorrow might bring. Because of that, I hope to become the kind of nurse who offers not only excellent care, but also comfort and hope to every person I meet. To everyone who prayed for me, encouraged me, visited me, checked in on me, or simply believed in me when I struggled to believe in myself, thank you. Your love carried me through the darkest season of my life. And to anyone recovering from a traumatic brain injury or any life-changing event, please don't give up. Healing isn't always quick, and it isn't always easy, but every step forward is worth celebrating. Thank You, Jesus, for protecting my life and giving me a second chance. I'll never stop being grateful. 💚🧠💓 #caraccident #tbi #tbisurvivor #postconcussionsyndrome #nursingstudent
