Free has little value. People value what they work for. We gave HS seniors free tuition for community college and we had few takers.

Massachusetts, where I live, also passed a millionaire tax several years ago and we use the taxes collected to fund free school lunches from kindergarten through 12th grade. 💕

i don't think it's a coincidence that Massachusetts has the highest rate of higher education and the lowest incarceration rate. you can spend some tax money on colleges or spend twice as much on prisons.

California now has free Pre-K and free school breakfast and lunch for Pre-K-12 and 40% of community college students qualify for free tuition. Living in a blue state > living in a red state.
