This is not because of a gas shortage. It is simply a way for them to earn more money. They insist that customers buy a new cylinder instead of just refilling an empty one. The shops where we usually buy gas keep telling us that they have no gas available, but after some time they supply gas to other customers. This has happened to us several times. We already bought three gas cylinders, and now all of them are empty. However, they are again telling us that they will only provide gas if we purchase another new cylinder. How can we keep paying around Rs. 4,500 for a new cylinder every four months? After a lot of convincing, one shopkeeper finally agreed to refill our cylinder by charging Rs. 2,100 for the gas and Rs. 200 as an exchange fee. This situation is unfair and seems to be forcing customers to spend more money than necessary.
