my dad was kidnapped in 2010 in i think celaya mexico. my grandparents had to pay ransom to get him back. he moved to the states here with his cousin because it wasn’t safe for him there anymore. a year later, i was born. he never ever speaks about what happened as im the only other person in my family who knows. this happens all. the. time. it’s not just kids.

There’s a great book on this by the Mexican investigative reporter Anabel Hernandez. It’s called “a massacre in Mexico.” It goes over interviews she conducted on what exactly happened that night.

Fun fact, my friend lives in Mexico, and one of her friends who I've literally stayed at their house, their family owns a funeral home, and her friend's grandfather is literally in prison for this crime currently. He had nothing to do with it, it's really sad. I was in acapulco when all of their banners were hanging around the city.
