Well I did my ancestry dna and it said almost 30% Caucasian. And that’s what a lot of black Americans have . But being dark skinned doesn’t mean they fully black either.

4c is actually quite rare. Because of the way people describe natural hair and lump all textures together, a lot of Black women assume their hair is 4c and go on calling it “4c” even once their curls are clearly giving 3c/4a. In general though, type 4 hair was never considered “loose-textured.” Everyone is just chasing curl definition now. We went from “natural hair movement” to “type 4 movement” now to “4c hair movement.” The window for texturism has now shifted to exclude 4c specifically.

🚨Lol to be honest, I never realized until I got older that a lot of people don’t have 4c hair. They think they have 4c hair because it gets curly and bushy, but that’s not 4c. 4c you can’t even put your hair in a ponytail without pressing it!!!

it’s not that alot of black women don’t have 4c hair it’s just that you don’t see it. alot of black women don’t even know what their natural hair looks like to begin with because they’re always perming it or wearing wigs/weave. i myself didn’t even know i had 4c hair until i was a teenager because up until then my hair was always permed.

A lot of black women have 4c hair. The women that have 4c hair usually always wear protective styles all the time. Thats why you don’t see a lot of representation.

I’ve seen a big shift in how people perceive 4C hair. When I was younger it was definitely more prevalent and then mid-2023 I swear people started replacing it with loser textures. Look up some older videos on youtube, that might be more helpful.
