@oliviahodaly: this is NOT a vacuum or “sucking in” it’s much more intentional than that ⬇️ When you hug the baby you’re engaging your deep core muscles and contracting and relaxing your pelvic floor muscles. It’s amazing at all points in pregnancy to connect to these muscles and strengthen them to keep them active and controlled during pregnancy and post partum! It’ll help with supporting your changing body during pregnancy AND recovering post partum! ✨How to do it: ✨ It’ll take practice to get the hang of it but here are the main cues: ✨think of the movement as zipping up your core from the bottom to the top - you are pulling up from your belly button ✨ • INHALE: you relax everything, including your pelvic floor. Imagine a blossoming flower down there as you let your pelvic muscles drop and relax. • EXHALE: “hug the baby”. Keep your pelvis aligned (no tilt in the hips, this is purely core nothing else should be moving). — Blow all your air out slowly and at the same time pull up that belly button, imagine the zipper coming all the way up to the top. You should see your deep core moving as one! If you lift it’s so important to maintain good core control when you’re pregnant. It allows you to control your abdomen pressure and oxygen levels so baby is safe and getting all the oxygen he needs while momma is working hard 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️🤭 #pregnancycore #pregnancy #thirdtrimester #deepcore #fitpregnancyjourney
