@shanekrauser: Many people have never actually read the Second Amendment to the end. Instead, they stop at the militia clause, and that’s where one of the biggest misunderstandings about the Constitution begins. In this video, I walk through the actual text of the Second Amendment and explain why the Founders chose the words they did. You may be surprised by what it really says. If you want to move beyond political talking points and learn the Constitution from its text and history, join us at Freedom Square USA. We’re building a community committed to mastering the principles of liberty and defending them with confidence. https://freedomsquareusa.com #SecondAmendment #militiaclause #BillOfRights #FreedomSquareUSA #militia

The founders didn't want a standing army at the time of the founding either. That alone makes their argument invalid.

All these gun laws mean nothing. The constitution is the supreme law of the land.

When the Second Amendment says “the right of the people,” who do you believe “the people” refers to? Why?

My favorite adaptation of this reframes 2A thusly :"A well-balanced breakfast, being necessary to starting your day right, the right if the people to keep and eat bacon, shall not be infringed." So, who has a right to the bacon?? The breakfast? Or the people ? 😂😂😂😂😂😂. Bonus question for thise who claim "the people " referred to in 2A are "the militia": what about "the people" in the 4th Amendment? It reads thusly:"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized." Does this also mean only the "well-regulated militia" has a 4A rigjt and ordinary citizens do not? 🤣🤣🤣

Quick question, an illegal alien can't buy a gun because he is not an American citizen even though it says "people". Why in other arguments, the word "People" applies to everyone including illegal aliens?

It makes me laugh when people argue that. Like yes the founding fathers went out of their way to make the second amendment of their new country to make sure everyone knew the government can have weapons.. like of course they can. The whole idea is arms being held by non-government/non-state entities and individuals

"the people" doesnt necessarily mean "each person". when this was drafted the US had no army. The militia reference puts the context that the people need to be armed to form militia to protect the nation.
