AI is also hallucinating symptoms and diagnosis into patient charts. I'm a lifelong autoimmune patient with chronic pain. If something like "Malingering" got hallucinated into my chart it would quite literally ruin my life. And while, yes, ideally providers would catch any errors, we have to remember that these AI tools are purchased by medical companies to "save time" so they can further overload their providers with more and more cases. Things are being missed and patients are being negatively impacted by these tools.

Let’s avoid saying that doctors are complicit, because that is a speculative and potentially defamatory assumption. It unfairly groups together doctors and other care teams who genuinely care about their patients and work hard to provide excellent care, including those who have helped Mayo Clinic earn its reputation as a top-ranked hospital, with the individuals who may actually be responsible for making unethical decisions.

I was forced to destroy my research and almost fired, before I filed an ethics complaint, and won, at my university system. Because they didn’t want anyone to know the truth about what’s happening in classrooms and to faculty. How AI is destroying education. It’s destroying everything. 😔

Remember how Mayo Clinic is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.? 😂😂 But making money and their competitive edge is above everything.

I can almost guarantee that it is not doctors who are trying to defend AI. Like literally every other industry they are likely being forced to use it by know nothing MBAs despite making the work worse

At what point do we hold c suite executives and board members accountable? Everything is at their discretion for their own benefit. You can argue the managers are doing it too but, these executives are dangling 5 digit bonuses in front of middle level managers in a desperate economy. There’s not much choice involved when ppl can barely pay bills. The internal contradictions of capitalism are really being highlighted with the AI bubble and descent into a techno facist dystopia.

I work in healthcare and we use it too. It doesn't transcribe medications correctly and often makes stuff up. It's causes so much chaos and the representatives have to go over everything to double check which ADDS time

The way they push it at work is insane. They have millions to throw at AI bullshit but they don’t have the money to pay people extra on holidays.
