@discovercotswolds: Castle Combe, Cotswolds: often called the prettiest village in England, and one that basically stopped growing around 1600. When the wool trade collapsed, nobody had a reason to build anything new, so almost nothing in the centre has changed since. 107 buildings are listed, and there are no shops or petrol stations to break the spell. One resident still sells Marshfield Farm ice cream from her own front door.
