Physical, composed and progressive with the ball, he looks increasingly comfortable operating in Carrick's midfield. Add the younger players pushing for minutes and suddenly there is genuine competition developing throughout the squad. And then there is depth. Bruno Fernandes, Matheus Cunha, Luke Shaw, Mazraoui and others give Carrick different profiles and different ways to change a game. That matters. A long season is not won with 11 players—it is won by having options when injuries, fatigue and difficult fixtures arrive. Let's be honest: the BoyleSports Cup isn't the Premier League or Champions League. Nobody is putting it alongside those trophies. 😂 But silverware is silverware, and United leave Dublin as champions, unbeaten and with another piece of evidence that this squad might be heading in the right direction.
