@wcconews: Outside the Target Center on Sunday, ahead of the clash between the Minnesota Lynx and the Indiana Fever, politics took center stage. Protesters and counterprotesters rallied in the wake of Fever player Sophie Cunningham's recent statements on transgender athletes. In July, Cunningham told ESPN, "...I want to protect young girls in a locker room, or young girls in sport who shouldn't have to go against biological men." Minnesota Lynx head coach Cheryl Reeve addressed the demonstrations ahead of time on Saturday, the day before the Lynx hosted the Fever. The Lynx would go on to beat the Fever 108-100. Boos rang out in the arena when Cunningham had possession of the ball, fans told WCCO.

The problem with this issue is I never hear anyone argue on behalf of trans men in men’s sports. Considering men’s sports are far more popular as whole domestically why isn’t that ever something people talk about?
