Especially for divorced former tradwives who may be entering the workforce, building careers, or learning to support themselves after years or decades outside traditional employment. Sometimes you do everything right and still get knocked backward. I know because I’ve experienced it. I was on a strong upward financial trajectory—and then an unexpected surgery and job loss changed everything. In many ways, I’m rebuilding for the second time. I’m not starting over in terms of what I know. I have more skills, experience, knowledge, and perspective than I did the first time. But I’m rebuilding the financial margin again. And that’s an important distinction. Getting your bills paid is one milestone. Building enough savings, income, assets, insurance, and financial margin to absorb the next crisis is another. When there’s no margin, one job loss, medical event, car repair, or family emergency can undo enormous amounts of progress. That’s why I want to document this second rebuild. I want to share what works, what doesn’t, the mistakes I’ve made, and what I’m doing differently this time—so perhaps another woman can reach stability faster than I did. And I love hearing from women who are farther down this road. We can learn from each other. Because the ultimate goal isn’t simply to make enough money to survive this month. A question I get often is how much does it cost to maintain the swimming pool in the property. There are multiple variables to this question. Most of the cost lies in the monthly maintenance. In my case, I pay about 350 for a maintenance company to come and clean it every week. . What do they do? They are supposed to brush the pool, Vacumm, rake and clean the filters of the pool pumps. Additionally, they are also supposed to test and balance the ph level of the water by adding chlorine to the pool. This is to prevent bacteria growth in the water. In malaysia it rains a lot, so this step is important. . The next big cost is electricity. I estimate the daily cost of the pumps that run roughly 8-10 hours a day everyday to be roughly around RM280 a month. This is an estimate but I think it is quite accurate. You can run it less often and your bill will be cheaper. But your water will circulate less and there are negatives to that. . Finally, just wear and tear of equipment, I think we need to set aside about another RM50-100 a month for that one time equipment change maybe every 3-5 years. . That roughly comes up to about RM700-800 a month to maintain a pool like mine. It’s basically an Installment for a car in malaysia. Is it worth it?
