None is better or worse than the other. You can get paid by the mile but how many miles are you guaranteed to run to have a decent check. Percentage, how many loads can you get done if they take too long to get the load ready and for you to get delivered before payday? I only done percentage or hourly pay

I would think if your local Driver being paid by the hour would be more beneficial. A lot of drops a lot more paperwork a lot more waiting.

Depending on the type of load, you’ll be hauling getting paid by the hour. It’s much better if you’re not an owner operator. Are you touching the freight often dropping hook either way you gotta get what you’re worth
