@thetimes: An Afghan champion boxer whose family were wiped out by the Taliban has been arrested over the alleged murder of a British woman in Athens. Sharif Ahmadzai is accused of killing Elisabeth-Jane Ross, 38, dumping her body in a suitcase inside a derelict building and using her bank cards to withdraw thousands of euros. The 26-year-old also allegedly used Ross’s mobile phone to send messages to friends and family for days after her death. Police said that initial medical reports suggest the victim, from Edinburgh, died from asphyxiation, but they are awaiting toxicology reports. He was charged with murder, robbery and illegal possession of a weapon, and is expected to appear at court in Athens on Wednesday. Police sources had previously revealed that Ahmadzai had argued with Ross about her attempts to persuade Hall to join a “stricter” Christian sect. Ross had been travelling regularly to Greece volunteering with NGOs and working with abused women and refugee centres. In 2019 she volunteered with the One Heart organisation in Athens, which provides medical support to refugees, particularly those from Iran and Afghanistan #boxer #greece #edinburgh#uknews #athens
