There is a reason I consider myself to be like someone from the the original Iron Front (Eiserne Front). I want to fight for Democracy for all who are willing all while rejecting authoritarianism of all types and forms. I just wish there was more that stopped and thought about electoral consequences of their actions. We need fighters, we also need to win elections. We can't fight if we don't win.

The primary advantage of liberal democracy is it's ability to keep the political environment grounded and connected to reality even under destabilizing conditions. When WW2 looked grim, the allies focused mobilization while the Nazis and Soviets were purging officers and intelligence agents. When the advent of post industrial production was destabilizing economic systems, liberal democracies adapted with (though imperfect) neoliberal reforms. Meanwhile the Soviets were collapsing and China adapted by shifting towards liberalization itself. When poverty was causing waves of socialist agitation, liberal democracies introduced welfare systems while monarchies and dictators were collapsing. Liberal democracy has demonstrated an unmatched level resilience to global stimuli.

With all due respect isn’t a liberal democracy essentially just a slightly more unregulated form of a social democracy? I’m personally a democratic socialist but I’m open to the idea of a social democracy because it’s so similar to my ideology and fixes a lot of the issues but again correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t a liberal democracy even less than and more unregulated? I mean why not go to a social democracy if you want a progressive regulated form of capitalism?

There’s nothing inherently wrong with the democracy you’re describing here, I just wonder for liberals like yourself why you think we got into this situation in the first place? For all these issues that you mentioned, at what point do you just hand wave these problems away as accidental, rather than viewing them as the product of existing institutions we have today?
