I hate all this talk about “Canada losing hockey” like we’re doing complete shit? We don’t send our top players to iihf championships like worlds and world juniors. Sure we had Crosby, Mack, Scheifele, Tavares, but a lot of our exceptional players were in the off season or the playoffs unlike a lot of other countries! We still had a good run, bad upset the last TWO games. And the Olympics, we lost by 1 fucking goal and people decide that it’s no longer Canadas sport? How does that work? Although in order for hockey to stay in Canada (which it’s not fading look at how many Canadians in the draft), it does have to get cheaper

Make it too expensive here, don’t give people an equal chance, lowering the pool of players and which gets access to proper development and scouting. Simple fix

When it comes to women's hockey Canada vs USA in the Olympics I think the problem was Canada's team was too heavily focused on veteran players while the USA had a better balance of veteran and younger players.

I was at the Canada vs USA game and my god were they bad like every time the US scored it was like they just gave up, you could see it in there body language. We don’t have a hope in hell of winning gold in the world junior championship

it's just that we don't strive to stay the best anymore when everyone else is starting to catch up, are we still #1? obviously yes but when it comes time to play it's like "gold or nothing" is the motto and we don't put in the work to win just because we aren't easily dominating

I don't put much stock in the youth tournies. There are a lot of factors that could affect the results. Physical and mental maturity, location, and international experience come to mind.
