The FTC opened this exact issue for PUBLIC COMMENT on 8/19. Docket FTC-2026-1057 on regulations.gov. Anyone can submit their opinion for consideration, it takes less than 5 min. It decides whether they have to clearly disclose that this is happening or can keep hiding it. There are only 48 comments so far and some were pro surveillance pricing! If you can, go comment there. You can be anonymous too if you want! Hopefully it will make a difference

it's crazy with the geo fencing and price surging. I looked up hydraulic fluid at a certain tractor store and it was showing me 57.99 for 5 gallons. when I got to the store the web page was locked up so I refreshed my screen and the price jumped to 69.99.... I had a screen shot @57.99 and said your price changed as soon as I pulled into the parking lot so he sold it to me at the cheaper rate. I drove about 3 miles and refreshed the screen again and the price dropped back down to the 57.99 the things corporations do just to scam us out of money is wild.

they'll also upcharge you if they think you're desperate for something. Googling for the same flight will result in tickets being hundreds of dollars more expensive. we need to desperately crack down on how data is used by businesses.
