@taybeepboop: Many many years ago I painted the edges of my cabinets for a surprise pop of color and it got me featured on @Architectural Digest 🤯 but I’ve learned since then there’s a muuuuuch better way to get crisp lines, it’s far easier to do, and makes the removal 100x easier. 🙅‍♀️ I tested out painter’s tape: it didn’t hold and peeled off on the edges very quickly 🙅‍♀️ colorful masking tape: was very see-through and would’ve required a lot of layers, showed texture, would leave residue if left on for a long time 🙅‍♀️ electrical tape: was amazingly opaque but risked damaging the wood underneath and peeling off the base layer of paint because of how adhesive it was The best thing I found to work was gentle washi tape- I’m sure they differ from brand to brand so I can’t say this will work for everyone but based on my experiments it held on strongly (it’s been tested for a couple months!), looks good as new even on high touch area drawers, and because of the gentle nature of the adhesive, if removed slowly there’s no damage or residue to the drawer. Not all cabinets/base paint will react the same so I can’t guarantee you’ll have the same perfect outcome, in case you have trouble removing anything adhesive I always do the hair dryer trick: heat up the adhesive so it loosens up and it pulls off way more easily!
