I'm in my 60s and I love YA. I didn't really like Shadow and Bones either so I didn't read Six of Crows. My favorite from that author is Ninth House!

I'm a 40 year old guy and you've definitely sold me on the Aurelian Cycle. I totally agree that something being labelled as YA definitely doesn't need to be avoided by older readers. I'm going to read Fourth Wing first (I just have to for curiosities sake as much as anything else). Think Fireborne will be a good one to go for after that. Only picked up fantasy books recently and my TBR is getting stupidly long 😄

I love why a story as much as I love every other genre that I read, and I recently finished the first trilogy of The Thrall series. Seriously a good read and written by an independently, published Canadian as well.

Three of my favourite YA series are Caraval, Stalking Jack the Ripper and Belladonna. I really enjoyed Six of Crows too, so I will add your other recommendations to my never ending TBR list 😅😂

There is merit to reading books from all ages. I love the magic of reading middle grade, I love YA fantasy and love having older protagonists more typically found in the adult genre. The only YA I don’t like, unsurpringly, is straight up romance. But YA fantasy can be great. Love Six of Crows and Ember in the Ashes is a phenomenal series.
