Todos os anos, durante a época de chuvas, algo único acontece nos Lençóis Maranhenses. Entre as dunas gigantes de areia branca, começam a surgir lagoas de água cristalina. Não são lagoas permanentes. Elas aparecem apenas por alguns meses. A água da chuva fica presa entre as dunas, formando verdadeiros “oásis” no meio do deserto de areia. E o mais curioso é que, mesmo sendo temporárias, algumas lagoas chegam a ter peixes. Isso acontece porque ovos microscópicos ficam enterrados na areia e voltam a se desenvolver quando a água retorna. Durante alguns meses, o cenário parece quase surreal. Dunas brancas infinitas… e lagoas azuis espalhadas por todo o horizonte. Depois, com o passar do tempo, a água evapora e tudo volta a ser apenas areia. Até o próximo ciclo da natureza começar novamente. Um fenômeno simples… mas que transforma o lugar em uma das paisagens mais únicas do planeta.
