@wfsbnews: The data comes from the Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection and shows that while overall domestic violence incidents declined slightly from the prior year, violent offenses — including homicide, stalking, strangulation and kidnapping — increased. Well the CT courts are a joke. When it comes tk DV they are basically a revolving door. They almost never incarcerate the abusers, making them think they can get away with it again. We need the courts to actually uphold our laws and stop giving perpetrators of crime more right than the victims.

They want to blame it on community advocacy groups. No, the police departments need to pay more attention to women when we are making these reports of stalking and abuse instead of giving us a piece of paper and not making any rest or doing anything about it in the court, it’s a believe woman when we are telling them what is going on the first time

That's because Connecticut is more focused on being a sanctuary state, putting up cameras to spy on everyone, and making sure every single one of the corrupted politicians are paid. Instead of putting money into mental health, actual protection programs for men and women and children actually having the family centers that we used to have. Top three most corrupt state New York, California, Connecticut.

That’s cuz most cops in ct don’t take DV or child abuse seriously. Despite the fact that people who do those things are more likely to kill someone

Because cops do nothing!! It should not take someone 7 attempts to leave!! It’s not underreported it’s being ignored because “there isn’t enough evidence” look at the statistics!

yup. bc there is no actual help.
Go to a shitty shelter.
Arrest the abuser AND THE ABUSEE?? really??
Okay just arrest the abuser and piss them off and use (probably) shared income to bail him out?
Involve DCF if there are kids??
Like how about we involve professional couples therapists instead. Like mandated.
How about we stop raising boys to be "men" that conceal emotions and have unrealistic expectations towards women. How about we teach children communication and how to have healthy, balanced relationships? We teach all this shit kids are never going to use as adults and bypass 90% of what it takes to actually become healthy, happy, successful, contributing adults. Yes we have to teach how to love. Yes we have to teach about navigating relationships and sex and parenting. Haven't we learned we can't rely on parents to teach these things the right way? You can't just ignore things bc they make you uncomfortable bc your family ignored it and are now feel weird about it. Your child is going to be an adult one day. You would rather send them out to the wolves not knowing anything??? Have them figure it out for themselves and then blame them when they make mistakes

Not surprising at all. Statistics at least back to 2017 (CDC) show that women who live alone are safer than those who have a man in their home.

Mmm yeah no. Not surprising at all. Imagine if law enforcement took harassment charges seriously. Then there MIGHT be less homicides

The FVEP program is a joke. The only way you would be marked unsuccessful in the program is causing physical injury and charged with assault. BUT you can stalk, violate protective orders, threaten, intimate, pretty much anything else.
